Vern McClelland is an Associate Broker for RE/MAX of Lloydminster and a partner with his son
Grant, in the McClelland Group.
Fully licensed in Alberta and Saskatchewan, Vern has personally represented over 4,000
properties from single family homes to multimillion-dollar commercial enterprises.
His specialty though is agricultural property, consulting on over 300,000 acres of farm and ranch
land to date, assisting clients with estate planning and marketing.
In 2014, Vern was honored to earn RE/MAX International’s Lifetime Achievement Award for
distinguished service to the industry.
He was elected to the Saskatchewan Real Estate Commission in 2015 as one of two industry
representatives outside of Saskatoon and Regina; and served as chairperson for three years until
completing his second term in 2021.
Vern has been a contributing editor to The Meridian Source since 2005, writing over 700 columns
to date on real estate and community issues of interest to readers in Canada’s Midwest and the
team’s international clientele.
Prior to entering real estate in 2003, he acted as a management consultant to over 50 Canadian
companies, non-profit organizations, First Nations, provincial and federal Crown agencies,
assisting them with planning and strategic business development.
During this time, he successfully guided the creation of fourteen Public/Private Partnerships or
P3s: the largest being the introduction of high-speed internet service to northern and remote
communities in Saskatchewan.
A graduate of the University of Calgary Banff School of Management, he holds the educational
equivalent of a master’s degree in health care administration.
In his 23 years working in health services, Vern served as chief executive officer for several
regional health organizations, the largest having over 2,100 employees.
Today, in partnership with his son Scott, he also plays an active role in the daily activities of a
1,200 head livestock operation outside of Maidstone, on land that has been in his family since
1905.
Grant’s approach to real estate seamlessly blends practical, on-the-ground experience with a
strategic focus on development and capital deployment. With over 24 years in business
ownership and management, he offers a uniquely client-centric perspective to the buying, selling,
and development of farm and commercial land-based assets.
Raised as the third generation on a family farm and deeply engaged in environmental and land
development projects, Grant possesses an intimate understanding of both the land and the
people who depend on it. This rich heritage has been a cornerstone of his career, enabling him to
forge high-value relationships with a diverse array of stakeholders—from leading energy
companies and general contractors in North America to local governments, Indigenous groups,
and international corporations. His expansive network has one overarching goal; to tailor
solutions that align precisely with each client's specific needs and aspirations.
Throughout his career, Grant has been involved in high dollar value development and
construction projects, always with a steadfast focus on sustainable practices and client
satisfaction spanning multidisciplinary operations including design sourcing, regulatory
compliance, and process improvements. Every transaction, negotiation, and proposal are
meticulously crafted to meet or exceed client expectations.
In real estate, farming, or any other venture, the key to long-term success lies in an unwavering
commitment to relationships, operational excellence, and client satisfaction. It is this unique
blend of hands-on experience and strategic acumen that ensures Grant’s clients always receive
meaningful advice and high-value solutions for their endeavors.
